A soft, versatile fingering-weight yarn, with twelve colours built through fibre blending and spun at our mill in West Wales.
Studio Fingering brings the softness and bounce of Merino together with the resilience of Corriedale in a light, finely spun yarn. Its construction gives clarity to the finished fabric while preserving the depth and subtle variation within each colour.

We began with the qualities we wanted from an everyday yarn: next-to-skin softness, comfortable bounce and enough resilience to be worn repeatedly.
Merino gives Studio its softness and elasticity. Corriedale adds strength and stability while retaining a soft handle. Used in equal measure, the two fibres create a balanced yarn that feels good from the first wear and is made to remain useful for years.
The wool is responsibly and ethically sourced from Responsible Wool Standard-certified farms in South America, where animal welfare and land management form part of an independently assessed standard. It is dyed in the UK, and blended and spun at our mill in West Wales.
Studio colour begins before the yarn reaches the spinning frame.
We start with dyeing Merino and Corriedale tops into bold, saturated shades, and choose several colours to form each shade. These fibres are blended through gilling, with highlights and lowlights introduced in measured proportions before the yarn is spun.
Every shade is developed through repeated sampling and adjustment. The result is colour with depth and subtle variation held within the yarn itself, rather than a single flat tone applied to its surface.
Studio DK and Studio Fingering share the same twelve colours, allowing the character of each shade to carry consistently between the two weights.
Garthenor Studio is a distinct, non-organic collection that sits alongside Garthenor Organic.
We created Studio to give us greater freedom in the fibres and colours we explore. Garthenor Organic remains unchanged, with the same commitment to certified organic fibres and traceability. Studio follows a different sourcing framework while carrying the same spinning knowledge, attention to detail and manufacturing standards.
Studio also keeps British manufacturing at the heart of the collection, with the fibre dyed in the UK, then blended and spun at our mill in West Wales.
Two collections with different purposes, made under one roof in West Wales.
