This organic wool has been hand sorted in our mill in Cardigan in West Wales. The Romney is sourced from a single flock in South West England, and the Polwarth from a single flock on Dunbar Island in the Falkland Islands. It's delicately scoured using sustainable methods in West Yorkshire, then carefully carded on our 1950s Tatham carder, Chapman. It's then Gilled (Pin Drafted) three times on Fish, our Intersecting Gillbox to align and straighten the fibres. This smooth sliver is then combed using Clint, the Rectilinear Comb to remove all the short fibres and vegetable matter, leaving only the longest, smoothest fibre remaining.
You can also buy the short fibre as stuffing here.
Your order will be sent as one continuous combed top except for particularly large orders, where we may have to split across multiple parcels.
