Sometimes the best things come from letting the yarn do the talking.

We’ve always loved a marl - that gentle twist of two colours together that creates soft flecks and quiet depth. So when we found ourselves completely smitten with our current Preseli palette, we wondered: what if we didn’t need new shades at all? What if we just… mixed what we already had?

The result is The Botanical Collection - a limited-edition quartet of marled colourways, each one inspired by a wild bloom, a hedgerow herb, or a moment in the garden where the light hits just right.

There’s something deeply joyful about working with what’s already in your hands. These marls aren’t an afterthought or a leftovers project - they’re carefully chosen pairings of existing Preseli shades, twisted into something entirely new. The effect is subtle, painterly, and a little bit magic.

While we’re here - if you’ve noticed the core range of Preseli looking a little lean lately, you’re not imagining it. Don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere. Our full palette will be returning in full force soon, but in the meantime, we wanted to create something special. A bit of a treat. A stopgap that doesn’t feel like one. This collection scratches the itch beautifully.

We started with the plants. Fritillaria with its chequered, nodding petals. Ferns curled into dappled hedgerows. Tansy’s silvery leaves, and the rich crimson of an Anemone seedhead. Each pairing began with a botanical image, and then we found the shades that captured it - sometimes in hue, sometimes in texture, sometimes just in feeling.

And because they’re twisted as one-off runs, once these skeins are gone, they’re truly gone. No repeats, no re-runs, just a fleeting burst of fibre inspired by the world outside the mill window.

We love these kinds of yarns: rooted in place, grounded in season, and made with care from what’s already here.

Thanks for celebrating this wild little twist with us.

These are all glorious colors! I love the Anemone. It has been quite awhile since I have gotten to use Garthenor yarn, but I hope that can change in the future. I really do want to save up and get some very special yarn for a beautiful, organic, sustainable me-made sweater!
